Learn the Olympic sport of fencing!!
The fencing program has been at the Chevy Chase Community Center for over four decades and has produced fencers who have competed in local, national, and international competitions including World Championships and Olympics.
All classes meet in the fencing room in the Chevy Chase Community Center, Connecticut Avenue & McKinley Street, NW.
Youth classes are for boys and girls 8 to 12 years old. Full uniform and equipment are provided to the students.
Children are asked to wear t-shirts, short pants, long knee-length socks, and athletic shoes. Parents are encouraged to stay in the fencing room (quietly!!) and assist their child when it is time to wear the fencing uniform.
There will be one beginning-level children’s class (Saturdays, 11:30pm-12:30pm) and two intermediate-level children’s class (Level 1: Saturdays, 12:30pm-1:30pm and Level 2: Saturdays, 1:30pm-2:30pm). A Junior Epee Club practice session, under our supervision, is on Saturdays, 2:30pm-3:30pm.
There are 10 one-hour sessions each semester.
Adult classes are for ages 13 and above. Adult students have ranged in age from 13 to 70. Foil, jacket, and mask is provided to the students.

It is not necessary to have your own fencing uniform and equipment for the group classes.
